Looks can be fleeting; the word on the inside can be fire!

What people see on the outside of you can be inconsequential; a word roaring inside, ready to get out, will bless the people and the city around you!

Don’t hold back! That reminds me of the scripture. The future king, David, Man, looks at the outward appearance, but GOD looks at the heart!! 1 Samuel 16:7

His father thought him insignificant, and his brothers and even Samuel thought there was no way this could be the one. 1 Samuel 16:11-13.

Yet, the character development that GOD had placed on David’s inside had to be seen.

He was a lion killer who had come after his father’s sheep! He was a bear killer who thought he would give it a try too; then he became the Giant killer who dared to blaspheme the name of the highest GOD! 1 Samuel 17:36-37, 45-47.

You see, David’s appearance was small in stature, and in man’s eyes, he looked ordinary, but in God’s eyes, He said David was a man after his own heart and called him a friend.

Another man we saw was Moses, who said he was a man of stuttering speech and no one would listen to him! He told God that he was not a man of eloquent speech. What did God tell him? Who made man’s mouth, was it, not I, Jehovah? Exodus 4:10 -11

I love that GOD reassured him after the previous chapter where he called and told him to take off his sandals for he was standing on holy ground and that he would tell the pharaoh to let my people GO!! Exodus 3:4-6

You see, in the eyes of the family or even ourselves, we cannot see what God is seeing on the inside of us! We see a quiet, small-statured shepherd who tends to his father’s flock and serves others as the youngest of the family, where GOD saw a future king!!

Moses saw in himself a failure and murderer that no one would listen to, and GOD saw a mighty deliverer and leader who would change the course of a nation and lay the foundation of his word that we still read today.

We cannot see things deep inside of us because we haven’t planted them there. GOD did; in Jeremiah 1:9, he reminds us that He(GOD) places HIS word in our mouth

This was after Jeremiah told God he couldn’t use him because he was too young!

Are you seeing the pattern yet? Even when we think that we are unworthy and not enough, God says that we are more than enough because HIS word is in our mouths!

Can I encourage you today to step outside your comfort zone and do something different than normal? Present what God tells you to do, be a willing vessel yielded to him, and see what he can do in your life. You don’t have to be like anyone else for God to use you.

Look what he did with these men as just a few examples of the word sent forth into this earth, the very bloodline of Jesus and writer of one of the most significant books of poetry and inspiration to many of the worship songs we sing today.

Moses was the man who freed a nation and wrote down the original commandments of God, which led to the laws we know today and foreshadowed Jesus becoming the Lamb who was slain to take away the sins of the world.

Jeremiah is the prophet we know who wrote out the prophecy about the incoming secondary exodus of the people of God into foreign lands and one of the ones who spoke about repentance before our sovereign GOD. So many nuggets we know today about God knowing and forming us in the womb are from his book alone in the Bible.

These men all had something in common: they were nobodies in the eyes of men, but GOD called them chosen and used them mightily to shape the world and communities around them! Won’t you let him also use you to make a difference to those around you!!
