In the last few weeks I have been studying many stories of the Bible and this one resonated with me so much in this season I find myself in. Matthew 9 you can find many stories of faith and bringing concern to Jesus, this was the third story in this chapter asking for healing.
In this season of recovery and healing for my physical body and emotions, God has shown me his love and where I have lacked in my faith, not as a harsh taskmaster but as a loving father and creator. He has been showing me where I stopped trusting him and how I let my past experiences dictate my responses.
Growth and recovery have come from this rest time, allowing me to re-evaluate many things in my life. What future goals, what can I do to improve my health, and how can I help impact others around me in a way that brings Him the glory? We can’t change what we don’t acknowledge, nor can we have healing where we don’t put in the work!
“Do you believe I can heal you?”(28) What an arresting thought He wants active participation in your process, so you can testify about his goodness. Then he finishes it off with “According to your faith, it will be done to you.”(29) Can I tell you a secret, I never realized how passive I had gotten about my healing and my faith walk. I was so convicted when I read this passage, I had allowed my situation to testify to me instead of testifying to my situation about who my God is! He is Jehovah Rapha the God who heals (Exodus 15:26) He loves us and wants an active intimate relationship with us. What areas are you lacking faith in right now that He wants to heal you in? Can you let Jesus in so Holy Spirit can illuminate these spaces for you? Jesus not only wants to be your healer but your Savior as well, to take away your sins (1 Peter 2:24) and to help bind up all your wounds! (Psalms 147:3)
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24 NIV
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalms 147:3 NIV
Will you allow him to heal you and will you have the faith for it? This is my challenge to you to start this new month and walk out your identity and healing moving forward! Love y’all
