God is Soveriegn

Every day we have choices to make, which decision we make based on those decisions are what impact not just our lives but those we interact with as well. Look back over the last few days actions,think of some ways others have been impacted. What are some take aways that you can see, were the impacts or touches things that were helpful or harmful?

When we look at these things and see how they shaped that day we can get a small scope of how we mange our world. Looking at this can you see something things you would have changed if you given the chance? Well one thing i know is that we can’t change our past but we can strive to make our future interactions more life giving.

I was reading in Romans 9“For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that hath mercy. For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, For this very purpose did I raise thee up, that I might show in thee my power, and that my name might be published abroad in all the earth.‭‭Romans‬ ‭9:15-17ASV‬‬

“As he saith also in Hosea, I will call that my people, which was not my people; And her beloved, that was not beloved. And it shall be, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, There shall they be called sons of the living God.”‭‭Romans‬ ‭9:25-26‬ ‭ASV‬‬

These verse it was referring to the mercy and compassion of God dealing with leading the Israelite nation after coming from Egypt in Exodus 33 Moses is questioning his decision to listened to God about leading the people, and wants to know who will walk along side him. With this we can see his mindset about making decisions that impact not just him,but these people whom he leads and will be impacting. Yet he says to God hey you promised that you know me by name and to found favor in me to lead. The response is what floors me and has me in awe to such faith or lack there of, verse 14 tells us that the Lord. Told him my presence will go with you and i will give you rest and Moses response was if your presence doesn’t go with him to not send them.

Let’s jut pause and think about that for a moment, don’t send me where you are not with me let that sink in. Is this something that you would ask Lord? To keep you from going somewhere his presence is not seeing that we make many decisions daily brings us back to where we started. Are your choices and decisions making good use of your impact on others or creating a negative one instead?

The great thing is that the story doesn’t stop there,Moses asked the Lord to show him his glory. Boldness in this situation is something Moses gained because he wanted to make sure he was doing the things of God. If we take a closer look at verse 17-18

“And Jehovah said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken; for thou hast found favor in my sight, and I know thee by name. And he said, Show me, I pray thee, thy glory.”‭‭Exodus‬ ‭33:17-18‬ ‭ASV‬‬

We also see that the Lord shields him from the full scale of his presence and only shows him a shadow of his essence. With this we can see that with our decisions we not know the full scale of the impact but God does, and he can shield us when we let him.

“And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and will proclaim the name of Jehovah before thee; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. And he said, Thou canst not see my face; for man shall not see me and live. and Jehovah said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon the rock: and it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand until I have passed by:”‭‭Exodus‬ ‭33:19-22‬ ‭ASV‬‬

Bringing us full circle back to the Romans passage, God knows us by name and even though we dont know who we are he does. He called us by name that we would be his beloved and made a way for us to be redeemable back to him through Jesus. His mercy and compassion are examples of not destroying us or letting us go through life with out examples of his investment in us. Will we be like Moses and ask the lord to show us his glory, and tell him to let us no go where he is not or walk our own paths.

And it shall be, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, There shall they be called sons of the living God.”

Let this be an encouragement to you that even when we aren’t who people think we should be we are valued in Gods eyes.
