Be still and know
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalms 46:10 ASV
I read my devotional today day 62 from 100 days of Believing Bigger and the author (Marshawn Evans Daniels) said that still acronym as:
Surrendered
Trust
In the
Lords
Leadership
This really hit home in my heart and I love it!! We quote this verse all the time and just breeze over it, be still and know that I am God!
Do you know that He is God, we have so many moving parts and distractions in our day to day lives that we forget that He is God! Will you pause with me and meditate on that for a moment, it’s not just the be still part as we live in a instantaneous society that anything we want can come to our doors or we can order with a quick point and click!
We are distracted on every side at work, at school, and every interaction we have surrounding us daily God wants you to be still and know that He is God!
Not the things around us that take all of our attention no those things have become idols and have enslaved our minds, some would argue that they still seek God sure but is He first?
I had a recent heart to heart with him about my time and how I was spending it with him, yes I gave him my quiet time and prayer time first thing in the morning but what about the rest of the day?
Did I worship and praise him during the rest of my day or only seek him when I was frustrated or needed something! Talk about a conviction, I had to check my heart posture and repent and ask forgiveness for seeking him at my own convenience when He has called us to so much more!
Back to the verse it’s so rich, I’ve heard many sermons on just that first part but read the whole thing with me
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalms 46:10 ASV
Look at this next part I will be exalted amount the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Just wow guys can you see the goodness we have left off this verse, this right here hit me like tons of bricks as the old adage says!
God will be exalted in all the earth what a twisted thing we have done to our God exalting everything else in our lives above him, this made me weep this morning as I read my devotion because I remembered the conversation I had in my prayer time from before and how I felt I had failed him miserably. However, He reminded me that he gives us grace and that He can redeem everything!
“But unto each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:7 ASV
I don’t know about you but I am grateful for Jesus coming to die and restore us to the Father with salvation! His ultimate sacrifice takes me back to that acronym for still, making it all the more sweeter to know that HE is God and will be exalted above all the earth!
Can I challenge you to do one thing today? Be still and know that He is God, listen to his prompting through Holy Spirit today and change your thoughts and let him guide you?
Daily surrender and seeking time with him, I have found has been the most life giving part of my day, yes it can be challenging but it worth it!
Love you guys until next time!
