We are living in a time that has seen change in everyday activities, how we operate in daily interactions and what we consider as regular protocols of what is acceptable. There have been many things in the last four years that we no longer take for granted like going outside, visiting family, and having basic supplies. I never would have expected for such a thing to happen in our age when we have so many technological advances in food and medicine, it almost seemed like we were living one of the most twisted movie or TV show plots ever.
I have found that since then I have been making it a part of my daily activities to be more grateful and spending more time with God, whether in prayer or reading the Bible which is his word. I have found that the days I don’t read or pray as much I find myself being more anxious and worrying more, and when I make time I find more peace in my days. I was reading just this morning and found myself in Romans 15 and was struck by how we should be helping to encourage and uplift one another with endurance so that we can bring hope to others. I had to sit there and let that sink in for a moment, then verses four to six really summed it up for me how we should have the mind that Jesus Christ had to people and to glorify the Father as well.
4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It shows that we can learn from tings in the past and that we can encourage others, we can let our past define us or we can use the things we learned to enhance our future. I know for me after experiencing so may trails in my life that seeking the Lord Jesus is my main focus and how I operate, and when I don’t I know that the chaos of this world will distract me.
Setting a daily goal is one of the main things that has helped me strive and press forward in the most challenging times, the actually length of time can change from day to day, but I always want to make room for growth. There are many days that I want to write or blog but I don’t finish the project so I give myself grace. I may not have been on the computer but I made some notes for later, I still call that a win because the intention behind the process is what helps me to stay motivated to move forward.
This practice of grace has taken time and learning from wise counsel, setting improper expectations is not beneficial to myself or those who interact with me, I expect certain things and they cannot always happen. Learning from the past experiences can and will shape your future so what have you learned about yourself today?
