Compassion

I was reminded of why Gods compassion on us has such a longstanding part of the process, the children of Israel as a seed of Abraham went through many trials and tribulations because they did not always follow what the Father told them to do. You can see many times in the Old Testament where Yahweh told them to do something and they would obey for a season and then again be disobedient and had to go through correction, he always called them back to him.

I was reading in Isaiah 54 and verses four through ten stood out the most to me it talks about how promises that God has made to the people about barren woman, widows, the forgotten, and how He will redeem even the little things. His promises that we are not alone and how he is with us as a husband to those who have been left without one and that even if others let us down He is there. His compassion and grace will never leave us, how he is with the ones who have been let down by others around then and how he is the one to cover us when we have been abandoned and neglected. I love how he breaks it down and shows us His completed plan.

“Don’t be afraid, for you won’t be ashamed; don’t be discouraged, for you won’t be disgraced. You will forget the shame of your youth, no longer remember the dishonor of being widowed. For your husband is your Maker, Adonai-Tzva’ot is his name. The Holy One of Isra’el is your Redeemer. He will be called the God of all the earth. For Adonai has called you back like a wife abandoned and grief-stricken; “A wife married in her youth cannot be rejected,” says your God. “Briefly I abandoned you, but with great compassion I am taking you back. I was angry for a moment and hid my face from you; but with everlasting grace I will have compassion on you,” says Adonai your Redeemer. “For me this is like Noach’s flood. Just as I swore that no flood like Noach’s would ever again cover the earth, so now I swear that never again will I be angry with you or rebuke you. For the mountains may leave and the hills be removed, but my grace will never leave you, and my covenant of peace will not be removed,” says Adonai, who has compassion on you.” ‭‭Yesha ‘yahu (Isaiah )‬ ‭54:4-10‬ ‭CJB‬‬

I love how this version (Complete Jewish Bible) breaks it down with the Hebrew context, it’s so rich and full of life in the words. The reverence to Yahweh God and how his words are broken down gives a deeper understanding for me. It pulls it to a place where we can see how God’s displeasure made him turn his back and how He welcomed them back to him in their repentance and right standing with him.

The last part of this is the compassion to the downtrodden, the widows, the barren, and the poor in those times if you didn’t have a covering or seed to leave a legacy than you were considered less than or cursed. So for HIM to share that He is the widows husband and there with the barren was so significant, without the legal heir or covering you had nothing as a woman so his one authority and secondly his compassion and love for the vulnerable is just breathe taking.

If you are without Him I implore you to surrender your heart and life to the creator of all things and surrender your life to accept Jesus as your lord and savior. Walk a life that is honoring to him and abide in God’s love and compassion.
