What is My Manna?

When Israel came out of Egypt, God not only delivered them from bondage, He also gave them promises and commands so they could walk in alignment with Him. In Deuteronomy 6–9, He reminded them to obey His laws, so they would not be destroyed by the very enemies He called them to conquer.

This raises a question for us today:

• What am I supposed to be destroying in my own life instead of allowing it to stay?

• What idols or footholds am I giving improper place to—things God has already commanded me to cast down?

Through Christ, every bondage has already been broken. Colossians 2:14 declares that He canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, nailing it to the cross and disarming every principality and power. Yet sometimes, we continue to carry what He has already set us free from.

The Meaning of Manna

“Manna” literally means What is it? Israel didn’t recognize it at first, but it was the provision of God.

Could it be that God has already placed manna in your life—provision, answers, strength, direction—that you have not recognized for what it truly is?

So we pray: Holy Spirit, open my eyes to the manna You have provided that I’ve overlooked. Help me to repent, confess, and renounce anything keeping me from Your purpose. Be my Teacher, Comforter, and Friend. Make me more like Jesus as I crucify my flesh daily.

A Prayer of Surrender

Lord, I don’t want to give place in my life to idols, footholds, or the lies of the enemy. No more open doors, no more chains, no more agreements with darkness. I surrender everything—my body, soul, mind, will, emotions, and spirit—completely to You.

You are my hiding place, the One who shelters me under the shadow of Your wings (Psalm 91). Like Moses, David, and Elisha, I want to be called Your friend. I want to be a servant, an emissary, a vessel set apart for Your Kingdom.

Search me and know me, Lord. Expose my anxious thoughts and purify my heart. Discipline me, align me, and keep me desperate for You. I confess that without You, I am bankrupt. Holy Spirit, crucify my pride and selfishness, and let Christ live through me (Galatians 2:20).

“Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” — Matthew 6:10

Taking Every Thought Captive

Your Word says the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. I submit every thought to Christ and reject every lie spoken by the enemy, by others, or even by myself. Every curse spoken over me is broken by the truth of Your Word.

You are the God who blesses to a thousand generations those who love You and keep Your commands (Deuteronomy 7).

The Wilderness Test

“He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” — Deuteronomy 8:3

Israel was humbled in the wilderness for 40 years so that Egypt could be purged out of them. God used the wilderness to test them, refine them, and prepare them. The same God still humbles and tests us—not to destroy us, but to establish us.

“He led you through the vast and dreadful wilderness, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock.” — Deuteronomy 8:15

This connects directly to Jesus’ words in Luke 10:19: “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy.”

The Word of God is alive—what He promised to Israel generations ago is still living and active for us today. From Genesis to Revelation, the thread of His redemption is unbroken: the Seed would crush the serpent’s head, and Jesus fulfilled it.
