New Grace

Sunshine streaming into your bedroom, signal the start of a new day, sometimes its the evening sunset if we work the late shift that greets us as we stir for another day on this plain. As we begin to stir and wake up do you take time to say a quick prayer of gratitude or just get up and start your day? I find that on the days I just pop up and get busy without finding my footing in prayer and spending time in the Bible studying and spending time with God the day is chaotic.

When I spend time and worship with my songs and prayers I am settled and prepared for the day better. One of my mentors called this the 15 minutes of grace principle where we just spend time in the presence of God without expectation. Just being with him sitting in a time of quietness and peace, especially after a night of tossing and turning I find this very energizing for me it sets the tone of the day. When I can spend time in worship and rest in him I can move into the assignments for the day, whether its reaching out to speak to someone and checking on them or just a rest day in him where I worship and sing and paint or write.

These things are my building blocks to take in the grace of God, he shows me how to move into places of difficulty and hardship in seasons that are very hard to manage on my own, he shows me that I am still good and valid in him. His grace shows me even in good times that he is faithful to those who seek him. I love how Ephesians 2:8 talks about that grace is a gift from God.

 have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8

When we move to be in a place that God shows us we need to move into, we will go through a process that we move into the peace of God as we move into a new place. I hope that this can help encourage you to spend time with God to start your day.
